In Part III of this three-part series, we break down and analyze the different components of a reinforcement program. While awareness training is vital, it is equally important to understand that it is the just the first step in bringing about lasting behavior change. When done properly, and according to adult learning principles, the primary training event provides a solid foundation for the next phase in the process of behavior modification: an ongoing reinforcement program that will work to transform knowledge into habitual practice. Like good training, good reinforcement design relies upon a deep understanding of the practices that bring about real behavior change.
