As this new article from Data Breach Today shows, the damage to trust and reputation that results from a data breach continues well past the time of the breach. As you’ll read, the costs run well into the millions of dollars—far more, we might add, than the costs of developing a strong security awareness training program. Would such a program have prevented the breach? It’s impossible to say. But with the price tag on a breach this high, a few thousand invested in alerting employees to the things they can do to protect information seems like money well spent.
